1 fresh red chili (finely chopped)
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp honey
1 tsp paprika (spicy)

Instructions Spicy Spaghetti with Prawns and Caramelized Onions
Caramelize the onions Slice the onions thinly. In a pan, slowly caramelize them with 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp olive oil over low heat. Add the honey and let the onions turn golden brown, which takes about 15-20 minutes.
Cook the spaghetti Boil the spaghetti in a large pot of salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
Sauté the prawns While the spaghetti is cooking, sauté the prawns in another pan with 1 tbsp olive oil and the chopped garlic. Add the chili and paprika, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until the prawns are cooked through. Drizzle with lemon juice.
Combine everything Add the cooked spaghetti to the prawns in the pan and mix well. Top with the caramelized onions and gently fold everything together.

FAQ
Can I make this without prawns for a vegetarian version?
Yes, swap the prawns for firm tofu or large king oyster mushroom pieces, pan-searing them the same way. Add a splash of extra lemon juice to keep the briny, fresh note the prawns would otherwise bring.
How do I keep the onions from burning while caramelizing?
Keep the heat low and stir occasionally rather than constantly - caramelizing properly takes the full 15-20 minutes. If they start browning too fast, add a splash of water to slow things down.
Can I make the dish less spicy?
Remove the seeds from the chili or use just half of it, and reduce the spicy paprika to a mild variety. The honey in the caramelized onions balances the heat nicely either way.
