Oriental Dish for your next BBQ - Taboulé Salad

Updated: Oct 16, 2022

Taboulé salad has its origins in the Arabic cuisine. Prepared with many healthy herbs comes a particularly fresh character in the dish. The Taboulé salad is again a perfect takeaway for any party. In addition, the salad is completely vegan and thus a fresh dish from the flexitarian cuisine. The main ingredient of the salad is usually bulgur. Bulgur is a staple food in Turkey and the Middle East. Alternatively, it can be prepared with couscous or quinoa. Bulgur is an absolute superfood and provides a lot of energy. Especially on hot summer days it is really fun to enjoy such a salad. Fresh, light, delicious and presented by food for flexitarians!

Ingredients

  • 300g cooked bulgur

  • 1 shallot

  • 1 tomato

  • 1/4 cucumber

  • 1/4 bell bell pepper (yellow and red)

  • Fresh herbs (mint, parsley, dill and coriander)

  • 1/2 lemon

  • salt and pepper

  • Dash of olive oil and white balsamic vinegar

Instructions

Cook the Bulgur according to the instructions. Strain through a sieve and rinse in cold water. In the meantime, peel the shallot and chop into fine brunoise. Then peel the cucumber, deseed the bell bell pepper and cut into tiny cubes. Now mix the cut cubes into the cooked bulgur. Then finely chop the fresh herbs (be careful to use a sharp knife so that the herb juice ends up in the herbs and not in the cutting board) and add to the bulgur as well. Season with salt pepper and marinate with olive oil and balsamic. VEGAN and delicious to enjoy.

Resumé

A great example of a salad made from great fresh ingredients. Quickly prepared, versatile combinations and already acclaimed at many barbecues! Also vegan and a great example of flexitarian cuisine.
