Bongiorno my Flexis. Today I have a very tasty and at the same time simple recipe for you: juicy salmon served in crispy hot dog buns with a tasty mango chilli sauce. This dish is a real treat and is perfect for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. The flavours of the fresh salmon, combined with the lightness of the salad, the sweetness of the mango chilli sauce will surely enchant your taste buds. Let's go!
Ingredients for Salmon Hotdogs
1 piece of salmon (200-250 g)
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons soy sauce
Rosemary (fresh or dried)
Hot Go Britches (to taste)
Crème fraîche or yoghurt dip
Lettuce and peppers
Mango chilli sauce
Salt and pepper
Instructions for Salmon Hotdogs
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. If you want to pan-fry the salmon, skip this step.

Rub the piece of salmon with lemon juice, soy sauce, rosemary, salt and pepper. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes so that the flavours can soak in.
If you are cooking the salmon in the oven, place it on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until it has reached your desired doneness. If you are cooking the salmon in a frying pan, heat some oil over a medium heat and fry the salmon for 4-5 minutes on each side.
While the salmon is cooking, toast the hot dog buns in the pan or toaster until golden brown and crispy.

Cut the lettuce and peppers into thin strips.
Spread a layer of crème fraîche or yoghurt dip on the buns, place the lettuce and peppers on top and add the fried salmon.
Fold up the hot dogs and finally pour some mango chilli sauce over them.

FAQ
Can I marinate the salmon ahead of time?
Yes, you can let it sit in the lemon-soy marinade for up to 2 hours beforehand — any longer and the acid starts to break down the texture of the fish.
What can I use instead of mango chilli sauce?
A quick mix of mango puree, a pinch of chilli flakes and a squeeze of lime makes a good substitute if you don't have the store-bought sauce on hand.
Can I pan-fry the salmon instead of baking it?
Yes, fry it over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side in a little oil until cooked through.
